Looking Back 1
The Christian race is one that should be taken
seriously and not with levity,... Because
once we surrender of life to CHRIST, Heaven bears record of it, our
names are written down in the book of life, we gain recognition there. It’s
quite unfortunate how so many people have nonchalant attitude towards this
aspect of their lives, they tend to ‘look back’. Our Lord JESUS CHRIST says in
Luke 9:62”…No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back,
is fit for the kingdom of God.”
When walking, running, driving, flying,... You
move forward and not looking behind, the moment you do so, you get distracted,
you lose focus. Now I'm not talking
about looking behind you physically, I'm laying emphasis on the worldly ways
which probably seems normal to humans but are not pleasing to GOD; the things
you probably used to do as a sinner, are you still doing them? Thereby taking GOD’s
GRACE for granted. The moment we (CHRIST’s Ambassadors) look back, we are liable
to go that"...way that seemeth right
unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death" proverbs 16:25. Some might say ‘ I've been doing this for a long time and
I haven't died,… I don’t even see death coming’. Well I'm not talking about
this physical death, I'm talking about the second death where those whose names
are not written in the Book Of Life will be cast into the LAKE OF FIRE. To some
people, it could be the physical sudden death, it all depends on the level of
GRACE GOD has for those he Loves, HE has given you a looooooooooooooooong rope
to pull. Friend, do not take HIS GRACE for granted because this GRACE is as a
fan switched off; the fan blades don’t stop instantly, but the velocity reduces
gradually and the blades keep rotating slowly until it finally stops.
Nothing good ever comes from looking
back; due to her looking back, lot’s wife died instantly ‘But his wife looked
back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt’ Genesis 19:26. Gehazi not only looked back, but was overwhelmed by what
he saw (that seemeth right)
"But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha
the man of God, said, Behold, my master hath spared Naaman this Syrian, in not
receiving at his hands that which he brought: but, as the LORD liveth, I will
run after him, and take somewhat of him. So Gehazi followed after Naaman. And
when Naaman saw him running after him, he lighted down from the chariot to meet
him, and said, Is all well? And he
said, All is well. My master hath sent me, saying, Behold, even now there be
come to me from mount Ephraim two young men of the sons of the prophets: give
them, I pray thee, a talent of silver, and two changes of garments
And he said unto
him, Went not mine heart with thee, when the man turned again from his chariot
to meet thee? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and
oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and
maidservants? The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee, and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow" 2kings 5:20-27. He looked back and brought leprosy
upon himself and his generation.
Do you think you know the gravity of what you are playing
with? The time to act is now,… now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day
of salvation.)
