Hold On
I sometimes think about the various experiences
of some Mighty men when they cried out after having that Feeling of dejection. Relating
their experiences with situations of life, I’ve realized that its quite
decipherable to hold on. How do I mean? Taking a look at the life of men of
valour recorded in the Word of God; they all had the idiosyncrasy of a good/fair
enough beginning and a glorious ending; But what happened before the Glorious
end product of the lives of most of them wasn’t pleasant. Each had their own
obnoxious moment and at some point might have started doubting their faith; but
one sure thing they did was to hold on.
In life there are series of unpleasant moments
we might have to go through; but as children of God, we could refer to these
trial periods as the ‘Purification Processes’, likening it to the case of
purifying gold. Gold in its crude/ore form is usually not attractive and at
times could be mistaken for dirt (if you aren’t conversant with such). Before its
beauty could be revealed, it must be heated and go through a temperature of
about 1064o C (1947o F). Wow! That's really intense and
harsh, yet it ‘Must’ pass through it for its Glory to be revealed.
An example of the men of valour recorded in the
Bible is Joseph. He got the vision of GOD’s plan for him, he stuck to and
believed in it; along the way, he was sold into slavery... thrown into prison
for the crime he didn’t commit: he might have felt dejected, probably thought
and exclaimed to GOD saying “Why are all these happening to me”; that could
probably be the reason why he wanted to work things out himself by telling the
chief butler to remember him and tell pharaoh of him when he (the butler) gets
out of prison (Genesis 10:14). Another similar person was Job considered to be ‘Perfect’
and ‘Upright’ having the fear of GOD in him; but he lost all he had in a day and
was also diseased with boils. He sure must have wondering what wrong had he
done which caused his predicament. They both had their condemned state when
they assumed GOD had forsaken them. P.S. even our LORD Jesus Himself prayed
fervently and wished He wouldn’t have to go through those arduous processes;
and at the peak of them all, He cried out “...my God, why hast thou Forsaken me?” Mark 15:34
Probably you have started losing faith in GOD
and like John the Baptist said in his unpleasant moment…Art thou he that
should come? Or look we for another? Luke 7:19, maybe you’ve started thinking similarly
and probably doubting GOD; could it be as a result of ill health, or you lost
someone dear to you and you are thinking all hope is gone, oh! Could it be a
failed relationship, or joblessness; probably you didn’t get accepted after
several attempts or your economic and financial status is really poor that you
live from hand to mouth/ or barely have anything to eat; irrespective of what
you are going through, just be a bit more patient and let HIM finish HIS
Purification upon your life.
GOD says that His plans/thoughts
for you are thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Well to be realistic,
that’s true because: Joseph’s vision manifested and in no time, things were
turned around for his good, the same applied to Job whom GOD bountifully
blessed and restored. And I’m sure if the devil knew that as a result of CHRIST’s
death would salvation be freely brought to all mankind, he wouldn’t have
allowed the occurrence to take place. For behold, JESUS arose with all powers
in HIS Hands and as a result
of HIS experiences we could “...come Boldly unto the throne of grace …obtain mercy, and find grace to
help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16).
“It is in
the quiet crucible of your personal private sufferings, that your noblest
dreams are born and GODs greatest gifts are given- in compensation for what you
have been through... it is well” - Wintley
Phipps.
So my dear, just relax and Let GOD finish HIS
Work on you. HE says “For
as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways,
and my thoughts than your thoughts.”(Isaiah 55:9)
For the vision is
yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though
it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. (Habakkuk
2:3) GOD has got you; Just HOLD ON!
