Doing Good

This morning, we had our usual family devotion and treated the the topic "Good Neighborliness" (Open Heavens devotional). We were taught (in summary) to do good unto others as it will later on affect us in future (i.e. depending on how we had previously treated others). Not long after (still in the cold morning), I went to get somethings in the neighborhood and as I was returning home (right in front of my house), a vehicle parked by my side and the driver beckoned to me. (I thought- "oh another description of a location to give, let me hear where to". However, I was surprised at his request) He asked me to do him a favor saying in his local dialect that someone didn't close the boot of his vehicle properly, so I should help him raise it up and close it properly. "Oh, no harm done", I thought and although being skeptical, I wanted to oblige. I looked upon the boot of the vehicle and as I was about venturing into the "favor", in a split second I remembered a real life incident that occurred years before (where in a similar situation a vehicle owner got into his vehicle but purposely left his footwear on the floor outside at the opposite side of his vehicle. He beckoned to a young lad to help him with his footwear. The young lad wanted to assist but was restrained by some sensitive people around who insisted that the vehicle owner gets his footwear himself. After a lot of argumentative conversation which attracted a crowd, it was now obvious that the ordeal was fraudulent and the man was forced to alight and pick up his footwear. He did and disappeared immediately because his ritual ambition backfired.) My Brain flagged out "Beware - suspected Retualist". But I'm not afraid of them, because HE that is in me, is greater than HE that is in the World, 💪 power pass power. As I was about to go and do as he requested, I just thought,. All these while this man is requesting me to do something for him, he could have come out of his vehicle and done the job himself. Hmm! do not put the LORD to test. I turned about, gave him a Wave and continued my journey into my abode. As he noticed that, he got down from his vehicle and went to shut his boot himself and drove off. I got inside and explained the occurrence to them inside,.. someone said (jokingly) I thought we treated "do good unto your neighbor today", we laughed it off and shared other similar experiences, but that statement struck me. I came to realize that we live in a society where we don't trust ourselves anymore, because one has to be very careful, Doing Good has now been subjected to under conditions due to our society. Psalm 52:3 says:
You love evil more than good,Lying rather than speaking righteousness._ Also in John 3:19, it says:
_And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
I was born with the Vivacious Giver nature in me, I give alms and render help even to my own detriment at times. However, (apart from the things of GOD) nowadays I usually take thought before I render the help I'm capable of; because Psalm 109:5 says:
Thus they have rewarded me evil for good, And hatred for my love. This has now been the norm of the society we live in, it saddens me. However, Change they say, begins with me. We can all deliberately eschew evil daily. Do good with everything within you (your position, your status e.t.c.); for the good you do will surely come back to you and vice versa. I've witnessed a lot of people ill-treating others because of their position forgetting that "what goes around comes around; You will either directly or indirectly still need the help of those you previously had dealings with. Do good Always.
